Stories not only give us a glimpse into the minds of others; they invite us to re-examine the worlds within ourselves. As a storyteller and an artist, I am constantly searching for ways to express what I see, feel, and imagine in an effort to communicate and connect with others. My practice is rooted in screenprinting, where I actively engage with design both in terms of content and negative space. I am drawn to the way the white of the paper – visual emptiness – can take on meaning when it is brought into existence by its surroundings. Currently, I am exploring the potential of storytelling through alternative book forms, as well as the multiplicity of stories that can co-exist in a single image. Through visual expressions of memory and emotion, I examine the ways stories imbue our everyday lives with meanings, both ordinary and fantastical.
